I really enjoyed this one. In the bible, this parable is among a bunch of cryptic parables about the "Kingdom of Heaven."
It's hard to tell what the kingdom of heaven is - faith? A relationship with God? Actual heaven? It's compared to all these things, yeast, a seed and a buried treasure.
I like the interpretation here - it is unseen, something you work for and yet at the same time a gift. But not a completely free gift, you still have to give up yourself to receive it.
I also like the reversal. That God pursued us in the same way.
I think that it is a great way to compare for children, instead of the others. Kids LOVE treasure. Even if it's not something that is very "cool," if you call it treasure or a surprise they are all over it!
