I don't fully understand why Jesus chastises the disciples for lack of faith. He was sleeping. What was he going to do asleep?
I wonder if its similar to when we feel like God is sleeping when we pray and we get impatient that our prayers aren't being answered, rather than trusting the God will save us in his own perfect time....
I thought it was interesting that the Story said "Of course Jesus cared, and this was the very reason he had come - to rescue them and to save them." In the past when I've read this story from the Bible, I had always gotten the impression that Jesus was the cause of the storm - because he wanted to test the disciples. I never considered the possibility that the storm was inevitable and that Jesus was there specifically to rescue them.
ReplyDeleteI especially liked the last two sentences; "if Jesus was with them, then they had nothing to be afraid of. No matter how small their boat, or how big the storm.
