Well that was certainly the most simplistic version of the story I've ever read/heard! The Ten Commandments (Charlton Heston style of course) was one of my favorite movies growing up - to this day one of the biggest reasons I look forward to Easter is that it gets played on tv practically non-stop :-D
I suppose when you're trying to keep it short and sweet, they managed to hit all of the most basic details of the story. It certainly is interesting to see how the book is tying Jesus to all of these OT stories - but the OT gets even crazier from here, so I'm excited to see what comes.
I'm pretty tired at the moment, so I'll probably look this back over tomorrow with fresh eyes - not much stuck out to me in this story other than how incredibly basic it was.
I'm a little surprised that there wasn't more of a connection to Jesus made explicit in this story. (Since the whole book thus far has overly pointed out the connections)
ReplyDeletePassover and the lamb blood on the door is some of the strongest images of the old testament relating to Jesus. Passover was also the meal celebrated in the last supper..... Wondering if when they get to the actual passion of Jesus if they will refer back to this story.
I agree with the lack of direct connection with Jesus.
ReplyDeleteSince Passover was also the meal in the Last Supper, is that why Passover in enclosed within quotation marks, saying that it isn't the actual Passover?!
