Romans 7:19-20: For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.
I didn't connect with this chapter as well as I have been able to with previous chapters; probably since I don't have kids yet... But it was a nice reminder that it's important to practice what you preach / lead by example. Parents are the most important, and most influential, role models in a child's life - kids are paying attention to all the things you do right and all the things you do wrong. As a teacher I try to actively remind myself that my mistakes can be a teachable moment for my students; in the same way I will have to remember that my children can learn from my shortcomings and how I deal with them. We can support each other to become better versions of ourselves, while at the same time acknowledging the fact that it's ok - and even better - if we ask God for help along the way.
